Today we had planned to leave at 11 sharp....... so at around 1130 we headed off...

At this point I would suggest that those of a particularly sensitive nature and those who do not like a long string of expletives to skip to the next paragraph. Okay? Kin 'ell . The Garmin Zumo 660 is absolutely, without question the biggest piece of junk I have ever had the displeasure of coming across. Now, I'm not suggesting that you go out and purchase the only alternative i.e. the TomTom I've used both - but the response from Zumo make a snail, on lithium, on the way to the dentist, look fast (Mike Carter). 'Turn right in 200 meters' Oh, the one that we've just passed? So, after wasting an hour or so going around Halifax in circles, we hit the open road. That's where we find another classic: 'Turn left into this field'.....with not so much as a gate...... That was brought to you on behalf of all makers of paper maps........
Anyway, or anywho (as the propensity is in these neck of the woods) The road up from Halifax to Sherbrooke is what we've been waiting for. Our first real taste of coastal twisties. It was great, it even stayed dry. Without exception, everyone we have met has told us how inclement the weather is for this time of year. Great, I could have driven in circles around Scotland if I had wanted rain. But we managed to dodge the showers and found nice accomodation at the Sherbrooke Village Inn. Three lobsters did not die in vain. Absolutely delicious.
You may notice that for the next 10 days the standard of photography drastically improves as G takes over the artistic side of things (in no uncertain terms ;)

Hey
ReplyDeleteJust been catching up with your trip - your stay in the B&B in Halifax ... was it by chance at the Verandah? I stayed there last year and remember Joan with much fondness - quite a character. Juliette x
Hi Juliette,
ReplyDeleteYes it certainly was, and Joan is a great hostess.
