Lake Placid

Yes, I know it shouldn't be on the route of a Canada coast-to-coast ride. But I suppose that we haven't reached the first coast yet. The US has a lot to answer for: coming across the border was a slow and miserable affair, the opposite of Canada - which was slow and friendly. Do the US border guys get special training in officiousness? They took our passports, keys and demanded money - if it wasn't for the passports I think we would have got our spare keys and buggered off ;) the other thing is their friendlyness here in Lake Placid and a certain guys enthusiasm for REAL beers. Master Brewer Rob (I'll link in his website when I get online). He forced us into sampling several (dozen?) It got rather ugly: we hammered them at foozball - but I think it was down to a roll on the table - or what appeared to be - maybe the bar was at a slight angle. I can't remember - all I know is that we are both suffering this morning. Call himself a master brewer? What the hell did he put in the beer?

We've broken the back of the journey to Portland - more than halfway and two more days to do it in. But today will be a somewhat slow affair methinks
