With a woolly head in tow we headed into Lake Placid for breakfast.
It didn't really help - a pint of orange juice and two of - admittedly American -
coffee stood no chance against the might of a mixture of summer ale, IPA and pilsner.
So we headed - rather slowly - to Lake Placid - the lake, not the town.
We sat on the jetty, waiting for the boat tour, enjoying a momentary glimpse
of sunshine. A bit ironic, coming to the states for rain.
After an hour of forced fresh air upon the pontoon we felt suitably invigorated
to climb aboard the bikes.
We arbitrarily chose Woodsville as it is about half way to Portland.
Four hours of driving through driving rain.
Are we having fun yet? ;) and my intercom packed in.
I'll look at it when we get a dry spell.
